Firm/Studio Name
Ingrid Architects

How did you come up with the name of your studio?
We usually work out floor plans in grids. It helps cut costs and brings order to the whole structure; hence ‘Ingrid’ architects.

What determined your passion for design? Tell us about the moment when you decided this is the way to go.
We have a keen interest in improvising an area to a more lively space with its function and aesthetics as key elements. Finding an ultimate design solution incorporating the client’s dreams and requirements is always challenging and super interesting. A chance to put our talent and interests, along with the smile and satisfaction of the client is not more than anything that we can get from a field of work!

What kind of projects were you doing when you first started as a designer?
We worked on residential and small commercial projects in the beginning.

What field of design are you most interested in?
Architecture, interior design, landscape design, designing public spaces.

What is your favorite book/magazine on design? How about your favorite site?
Favorite book: ‘The Architectural Record’. as it keeps the up to date on architecture, trends and ideas, architects, and newly constructed buildings all over the world.
Favorite site: www.archdaily.com; it’s a small team that strives to bring credible architectural news to the public.

What is your Signature Style?
Mostly contemporary, but we never confine ourselves to a particular typology. The main focus is on the site conditions, the client’s dreams, and our satisfaction in providing an ultimate solution.

What inspires you to thrive in this industry? Which piece of architecture inspires you the most.
Each design is different. It has to be different as each of them is a response to its site conditions and surroundings. And therefore to provide a solution is challenging and makes it interesting. Contributing our inner potential to society is the best part!

Inspiration: Works of Ar. Sanjay Puri, for his creative designs that is revolutionary.

From your point of view, is design an art or a science?
Design is art, as in, each creative element plays an important role in the development of any structure. It gives life and meaning to the spaces. It includes the thoughtful usage of colors, textures, patterns, shapes, etc. The list goes on…

Design in science, as in, the elements like sun path, wind direction, the slope of the site, etc. are strictly considered during the preliminary stages of the design itself.

If you had no limits (money, resources), what would you create?
A super lively space, where, people of any age would love to spend their time without any kind of stress. Might include elements like different types of promenades, water bodies, garden, lively seating spaces, play areas, main structure being iconic, etc.

What advice do you have for young designers or architects reading this interview?
This field is competitive. Success takes time. Have patience. Creativity never dies.
