How did you come up with the name of your studio?
We always wanted to get recognized by our name so we thought as a design studio this “Palak Shah Design Studio” is the best for our organisation.
What determined your passion for design? Tell us about the moment when you decided this is the way to go.
There was always something for design in me as a child. When I was in school, my house got renovated and I saw many people working in my house to make it beautiful. At that, I decided to go for designing.
What kind of projects were you doing when you first started as a designer?
First, we started with a small 2-bhk residence.
What field of design are you most interested in?
As a designer, I always thought that there is so much scope of design in the hospitality industry.
What is your favourite book/magazine on design? How about your favourite site?
Favourite book/magazine is “Insideoutside” magazine. and favourite site is “Archdaily”.
What is your Signature Style?
To reflect the owner’s requirement and wish into our design is our signature style.
What inspires you to thrive in this industry? Which piece of architecture inspires you the most.
To be the part of someone’s dream project and design their wishes and seeing the happiness on their faces after finishing projects, that thrive us in this industry.
From your point of view, is design an art or a science?
Architecture is the art and science both of designing & building structure, keeping aesthetic and functional criteria together. It is a thoughtful making of spaces.
If you had no limits (money, resources), what would you create?
The world’s most expensive hotel… 😀
What advice do you have for young designers or architects reading this interview?
Keep patience, work hard and make your own signature style.
