How did you come up with the name of your studio?
Well, you can see how creative I have been with my studio name 🙂 but I was all of 26 and in a haste to begin my practice, I also feel sometimes that people tend to not recognize the designer if the practice has another name.
What determined your passion for design? Tell us about the moment when you decided this is the way to go.
I feel telling people, Architecture is about creating spaces where people create memories. it can bring about a social and cultural change in people. My very first project the open house, where I saw how design can bring about a social change in the way people behave was an eye-opener for me Throughout my 5 years of architecture school I didn’t know why I was studying design, till I did this project.
What kind of projects were you doing when you first started as a designer?
I love creating homes, spaces where people spend the rest of their lives, spaces that give happiness to others. as a studio, we are sure that we want to keep our expertise in residential design- both interiors and architecture
What is your favorite book/magazine on design?
How about your favorite site? currently, I am reading Letters to a young architect, by Christopher Benninger – it is beautiful honest writing about his experience and learnings which he wants to pass on. absolutely love the curation of RUM magazine as well – very modern and soft.
What is your Signature Style?
id like to believe is Modern Functional Spaces- or maybe Modern Indian
What inspires you to thrive in this industry?
Which piece of architecture inspires you the most. I think it’s not just architecture. design is so multidisciplinary. sometimes it’s a song that influences us, sometimes a sight, sometimes an object or just people. I enjoy people watching, a lot of my work comes from just observing the quirkiness of people giving them their distinct personality .
If you had no limits (money, resources), what would you create?
there’s no end to this answer. My mind is constantly thinking about new things, new collaborations, new designs, new products, new spaces. but in the near future, I know I want a little cute office space, free of boundaries, full of enthusiastic designers, with a nice open kitchen where I can run both my passions.
What advice do you have for young designers or architects reading this interview?
BE ORIGINAL. you will stand out! it may take time – but it surely will pay off.
